Belvedere village
Just an hour from the sea, it rises to an altitude of 830 m, offering panoramic views over the Vésubie Valley and the 2 villages of Roquebillière: Roquebillière-vieux and Roquebillière-neuf. Hence the name Barver in the local dialect, meaning “beautiful view”.
Its narrow streets, little squares and sunny or shady gardens have retained their charm of yesteryear. And the sound of running water is always present, as the village has managed to preserve a system of watering the gardens that is collectively managed by the waterers, who pool their work to keep this traditional practice alive.
A commune in the Parc du Mercantour, the village is very pretty and the inhabitants are friendly. As you hike through the Gordolasque Valley and up to the gateway to the Vallée des Merveilles, you’ll be able to observe chamois, marmots, ibex and more…
