Just an hour from the sea and our holiday rentals, this hilltop village peaks at an altitude of 830 metres, offering an exceptional panorama of the Vésubie valley as well as the two villages of Roquebillière: Roquebillière-vieux and Roquebillière-neuf. This remarkable viewpoint has earned it its name of “Barver” in patois, which literally means “beautiful view”.

The charm of the village lies in its cobbled streets, its picturesque squares and its gardens, sometimes bathed in sunlight, sometimes nestled in the welcoming shade of the trees. These places invite you to stroll and relax. Here, time seems suspended, punctuated by the gentle murmur of flowing water. This soothing sound recalls an ancient tradition that the village has preserved: a collective watering system for the gardens, managed by the “arrosants”. These inhabitants pool their know-how and their work to keep alive this practice inherited from past generations, a symbol of solidarity and harmony with nature.

Located in the heart of the Mercantour National Park, this village is a jewel where the beauty of the landscapes blends with the friendliness of the inhabitants. Nature lovers can explore the hiking trails of the Gordolasque Valley, leading to the gates of the Vallée des Merveilles. Along the way, it is not uncommon to come across chamois, marmots or even ibex, enriching the experience of a special bond with wildlife.
