Located between Nice and Monaco, at 1 avenue Ephrussi de Rothschild – St Jean Cap Ferrat, this early 20th century villa is one of the most beautiful jewels on the Cote d’Azur.
Overlooking the Mediterranean, Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is a magnificent palace surrounded by nine thematic gardens: French garden, Spanish garden, Florentine garden, lapidary garden, Japanese garden, exotic garden, Provençal garden, and a rose garden as well as a huge pool where carp evolve and from which musical fountain shows spring forth.
This 2-story villa is a tribute to the Italian Renaissance created by Charlotte Béatrice de Rothschild, born in 1864 and second child of Baron Alfonse de Rothschild and Léonora.
We like to visit, for the modest sum of €17/person, this palace where everything is enchanting and luxurious.
We can wander around this villa where an audio guide is lent to us to better understand the history of the residence.
To continue being amazed, there’s nothing like enjoying the tea room or the restaurant and the terrace.
From the villa’s gardens we have splendid views of the sea and the Rade de Villefranche.
We especially like to admire the old-fashioned and captivating beauty of the interiors and the poetry that emanates from these themed gardens where plants rub shoulders with statues and fountains.
This place is often privatized for sumptuous weddings and private events.
However, every year, at the beginning of May, the rose festival takes place which brings together rose growers and artisans who share a passion for plants.
So this year 2024 we could notably discover Guilhem Codera from Terroir-06, a farmer-processor-distiller who offered his gourmet creations made with centifolia rose, mimosa, verbena, orange blossom, honey, etc. .
