The Corniche d’Or, between the sea and the Estérel, from Mandelieu to Saint Raphaël and Fréjus

La Corniche d’Or

The Corniche d’Or, between the GRande Bleue and the Estérel Massif

45 minutes from our listed lodgings on the Côte d’Azur, between the red rocks of the Estérel massif and the Big Blue, the Corniche d’Or stretches for 38 km between Théoule sur Mer and Saint Raphael.

Calanques and small beaches follow one another in a wild setting with a slight Brittany feel. The most spectacular and our favourite is Pointe de l’Aiguille beach which offers spectacular views of the Bay of Cannes.

Le Dramont and l’ile d'or

Once a self-proclaimed kingdom and today owned by a family of shipowners, the island seems to have come straight out of a Tintin adventure album. To be exact, it is indeed this island that inspired Hergé for his album “L’Île Noire”.
But Dramont is also a point which, after a short 1/2 hour walk in the middle of the Mediterranean vegetation, offers a magnificent view of the Agay harbor. Looking west, you will also see the Gulf of Saint Tropez.

Without forgetting the historical interest of this place which was one of the key bridges of the Allied Landing of August 15, 1944.

Saint Aygulf and the Villepey ponds

The Villepey ponds, on the seafront, are a remarkable wetland area that is home to a diverse range of fauna and flowers over 240 hectares. Owned by the Conservatoire du littoral and thus protected from any concreting, this area is classified as Natura 2000 and RAMSAR and is the largest humic area between the Camargue and the Italian border.

For children, the fine sand beach, one of the largest in the region, offers the pleasure of swimming and beach games.
