This village at the gateway to the middle country

Idea for a walk during your stay on the Côte d’Azur, just 20 minutes from our gîtes in Bar-sur-Loup: the village of Saint-Vallier-de-Thiey. This charming village is famous for its large meadow, a green space perfect for picnics, games or a moment of relaxation with the family. Nestled in the heart of the middle country, Saint-Vallier-de-Thiey has preserved its authentic charm with its picturesque streets and its historical heritage, such as the Saint-Vincent church or the prehistoric remains of the Grotte de la Baume Obscure.

For hiking enthusiasts, numerous trails leave from the village, allowing you to explore the surrounding nature and admire spectacular landscapes.

The Ferrier Pass

You can also enjoy a panoramic view of the Estérel massif, the bay of Cannes, Lake Saint-Cassien and the bay of Saint-Raphaël. To do this, simply go up to the Col du Ferrier, a few minutes’ drive from the village. From there, you can head out into the middle of the trees and discover unspoilt nature that smells of scrubland.

Hiking enthusiasts will be delighted by the many marked trails that offer spectacular viewpoints and varied atmospheres, between limestone rocks, maritime pines and aromatic plants such as thyme and rosemary. Don’t forget to bring a pair of binoculars to observe the local wildlife: birds, squirrels and perhaps even deer in more remote areas. In autumn, you can also pick up some mushrooms.

A walk at the Col du Ferrier is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature while enjoying breathtaking landscapes.
