“La Fête de l’oranger” at le Bar sur Loup

Created now a quarter of a century ago, the “Fête de l’oranger” of Bar sur Loup, our village and therefore the one where we have our gites www.locations-06.fr, puts the spotlight on this beautiful orange fruit every year. with bitter flavors which constitute the DNA of our village.

Every Easter Monday, the appointment is given. The village is transforming, going from a small, somewhat dormitory village on the outskirts of the city of Grasse to a meeting place for a one-day party.
That day, the city of orange trees adorns itself with its most beautiful orange-colored clothes. the tone is set, the party will be lively and colorful!
A large craft market, all day long, will await visitors in the squares and streets of the village.
Cooperage workshop, still distillation, farm animals, cutting of orange peel ribbons, demonstrations of dry stone wall construction, strolls, brass bands, guided tour of the village, music and theater will await visitors. throughout the day.

Every year since always, I like to admire the Giorsetti brothers who, dressed in the style of the old days, offer the walker an idea of how the famous orange peel ribbons were made. I also like to relive a little of these ancient times of Provence thanks to the ecomuseum renewed and improved each year by my friend Jean Paul Destrehem.
Catholic families bring cakes to the catechists’ stand which will be sold on an orange theme, while a jury will try to determine the best orange wine, our local aperitif, and the best orange jam. Not to mention the stand and the activities of the parents of the local school and all the small artisans who offer us their treasures.

Every year Ms. Francoise Gras, head of the Jehanne Rigaud perfumery at Bar sur Loup, offers us her perfumed creations. La Maison Venturini treats us to the best fougassettes in Grasse while others offer us socca, homemade jewelry, artisanal biscuits, herbs, artisanal clothes, essential oils or the hammered iron weathervanes of Francis Quaranta, etc.

The "Fête de l'oranger" at Bar sur Loup, a very pretty traditional festival to start spring on the Côte d'Azur.

And this year 2022, for the first year, our family had a stand there🙂.
In fact, our son Guilhem Codera became a Farmer Transformer and created TERROIR-06. Our family, whose parents and grandparents were farmers, was there running a stand.
Baptiste, Guilhem’s brother, helped him sell and taste the products while I, their mother, enjoyed discussing our creations.
We actually offer products from Guilhem crops: citrus fruits, olives and organic PPAM (fragrance, aromatic and medicinal plants). So, concretely, we sell olive oil, olive paste, flavored olive pastes, citrus jams, hydrosols, candles and even kits for making your own wine. orange.

So I just have to see you next year at LA FETE DE L’ORANGER!
