25 minutes from our gites www.locations-06.fr, discover the “Reflections of a Rural World” museum in Mouans-Sartoux, a very pretty Provençal village.
The museum “Reflets d’un monde rural”, located at 13 rue du Château in Mouans-Sartoux, is an ethnographic museum dedicated to the preservation and promotion of local rural heritage. Housed in the former stables of the Château de Mouans, it offers an immersion in the daily life and traditional activities of the Grasse region between 1900 and 1950.
It consists of three exhibition rooms, made thanks to donations from Mouansois families, collected since 1981 by the Centre d’Activités Culturelles Occitanes. In the first room, an oil mill has been reconstructed, surrounded by objects linked to oil production, olive trees and vines, reflecting the traditional economic activities of the region.
The second room is dedicated to the cultivation of flowers and perfume plants, illustrating the importance of these crops for the Grasse perfume industry. Large posters, made from photos lent by locals, enrich this presentation.
The third room offers a reconstruction of a period kitchen and bedroom, decorated with utensils and objects used in the trades of the early 20th century, offering an authentic insight into domestic life of the time.
The museum is open to the public every day, except Mondays in winter. Free guided tours of the village, including the museum, are organized by the Tourist Office upon registration.
