Walks in Cannes
We love strolling around Cannes, the seaside town on the Côte d’Azur, just 30 minutes from our gites www.locations-06.fr in Le Bar sur Loup, 10 minutes from Mougins, and very soon we’ll be at work on our latest rental in Cannes itself.
Cannes is famous for its International Film Festival, as well as the various world-class festivals and trade shows that take place every month, the MIPIM for example being one of the most renowned. It’s simple: every month in Cannes there are congresses and events.
What’s the best thing to see in Cannes?
Let’s start with La Croisette, the famous promenade that runs along the sea from theOld Port and the Palais des Festivals to Palm Beach. Bordered on one side by the sea and fine sandy beaches and on the other side by palaces like Le Martinez and luxury boutiques, this boulevard is marked by the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, a modern building with innovative architecture famous for its red carpet, its casino, its nightclub, and the Alley of Stars, or like the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the biggest stars have left the imprint of their hands in the ground .
All year round, you can take the little tourist train around town, a fun and entertaining way to discover Cannes and its main points of interest.
Personally, I love the Suquet district, which is the oldest part of Cannes. It overlooks the Old Port and its yachts and sailboats, the Quai St Pierre and is just a stone’s throw from the Marché Forville, where you can find wonderful fresh produce every morning.
The Suquet district which is in fact the old town of Cannes, is old colorful houses stuck together along narrow and steep streets which take us to the Château de la Castre from where we have a panoramic view on the port and the Bay of Cannes.
To the west of Cannes, the Croix des Gardes district is also a marvel, with its promenades set in a park where mimosa trees abound and the views over the Bay of Cannes and the Esterel Massif are superb.
As you stroll along, you’ll discover the Venetian Palace and the Florentine-style Château de la Croix des Gardes.
But what about the beaches and the brand-new Josephine Baker Promenade along Plage du Midi? It’s a marvel. There are benches where you can rest and recharge your batteries while admiring the panoramic view over the Bay of Cannes and the Esterel Massif.
So if you fancy a trip to Cannes near our holiday apartments on the Côte d’Azur, don’t hesitate for a second!
