Holidays on the French Riviera
This period of illness, viruses, fears and uncertainties means that now, a few months later, we want freedoms, joys, vacations.
The Côte d’Azur remains and will always remain a very popular holiday destination due to its many assets.
And this year, this summer, we French people will certainly not have the freedom to go on vacation abroad because we will most likely be prohibited from doing so.
Also, even if it means staying in France, we might as well go to superb destinations where we will be sure to enjoy a good vacation. Furthermore, going to France means acting as an eco-citizen and responsible actor by supporting the economy of our country, and therefore, …, ourselves!
But then, you ask me, what can we do on the Côte d’Azur? What will our vacation be like!
This summer, in the Alpes-Maritimes, you can already enjoy weather with blue skies and guaranteed mild temperatures. Imagine yourself in one of the deckchairs of one of our locations-06 cottages, sunbathing in the sun, with a glass of orangeade.
Then, you can go for beautiful walks and hikes. Around our lodges, there are a multitude of hikes and we have the “Compagnon de route” label, because, in particular, we are located less than 1 km from the GR51.What will our vacation be like!
One of the most popular walks among our holidaymakers and the Chemin du Paradis: It is a climb from Bar sur Loup to Gourdon, a village classified as one of “the most beautiful village in France“. During this climb, you will be able to appreciate superb panoramas, on an almost vertical relief where cliffs and steep projections succeed one another wooded with pubescent oaks. There are many other walks of all levels and very different depending on whether you choose the seaside and the customs officers’ path, for example in Nice or Antibes, … . The Middle Country, where our locations-06 lodges are located, where you can evolve between nature and perched villages. Or the Haut-Pays where you can walk to the ski resorts of the Southern Alps and walk on the roof of the Alpes Maritimes, … Il y a le choix.

Why not rent an electrically assisted bike through our partner Tourrent bike. Frédéric will deliver the bikes directly to the gîte and can even add a GPS. He can also organize guided bike tours where you will discover the charms of the Alpes-Maritimes located very close to your gîte.
In sports, you can do tennis, golf, water sports and why not hang out with our partner Skywalk’air 06 which will take you to great heights! In short, you will be spoiled for choice.
Furthermore, during your vacation, you can go to the beach. Maybe the traditional sunbathing on the beach won’t be allowed this year but the beaches are open and allow you to indulge in all your favorite water sports.

You will be able to visit the perched villages and the pretty old towns of Nice (old Nice, Cours Saleya, etc.), Grasse (Place aux Aires, Place aux Herbes, etc.), Antibes. (the ramparts, the covered Provençal market, etc.).
Without forgetting the old centers of our beautiful Provençal villages such as Tourrettes sur Loup – the village of violets, Saint Paul de Vence – the village of artists, Biot – the village of glassmakers, Mouans-Sartoux – the village of the gardens of the International Perfume Museum, Le Bar sur Loup (our village) – the orange tree village.

And for swimming in 06, what are my secrets?
My little corner of paradise is the river. Just 300 meters on foot from our lodgings, you will go swimming in the Loup, a pretty little river and above all, a calm and shady place. The palette of colors and greens is superb. The dragonflies play, the little fish amaze us and our dogs cool off when the children have fun building ponds with the pebbles.
In short, I’m stopping because otherwise 99% of the population will want to come and on the Côte d’Azur, it’s not mass tourism but quality tourism!
So of course, we will be careful. Masks, distances, barrier gestures, …. But it is at this price that we will have a great vacation
As a foodie, I recommend that you enjoy a good pan-bagnat during a picnic, pissaladière and a good rosé (our partner Mr. Bertaina from the St Joseph estate in Tourrettes sur Loup in fact an excellent, organic one).
The “Cuisine Nissarde” label is awarded each year to restaurants which are keen to introduce you to the specialties of Nice and its region (stew, stuffed Niçois, panisses, chard pie, etc.). Personally, I like to go buy fresh pasta or ravioli in Chateauneuf de Grasse from a small artisan whose name I will give you or in old Nice at Maison Barale. Still in old Nice, don’t hesitate to go and get some specialties at the famous triperie on Place Saint François, … And gently, my guilty pleasures are: the fougassette from the Venturini family in Grasse which is said to be the best in the region (a rental-06 partner), the ice creams from Papilla in Chateauneuf de Grasse, and in particular their latest creation : orange blossom ice cream. And I also like to enjoy a sweet tea with Mme Thouzalin’s honey, produced at Bar sur Loup.
