Hiking and walking for everyone on the French Riviera

From the seaside to the peaks of the Mercantour, through the hinterland, the Côte d’Azur offers many walks and hikes to do with the family.
There is something for everyone, and you will discover landscapes as different as the seaside, the meadows of the pre-Alps of Grasse, the larch forests of the Mercantour. Not to mention the possibility of discovering wildlife at the turn of a road or in the heart of a meadow.

Regional Natural Park of the Préalpes d’Azur

The Regional Natural Park of Préalpes d’Azur was created on March 30, 2012. It is located in the Grasse Pre-Alps, between the valleys of Siagne, Loup, Cagne, Estéron and Var.

It stretches between 300 and 1,800 m above sea level, in 45 municipalities, covering diverse landscapes, due to the double Mediterranean and mountain climate influence: rocky and arid heaths, valleys, gorges and clues, forest areas and cultivated plains or grazed.

Between the Côte d’Azur and the high mountains of Mercantour, this territory of medium mountains, composed of gorges, forests and agricultural valleys is one of the territories of France most rich in biodiversity: the crossing of Mediterranean and Alpine influences in a preserved territory makes it exceptional.

The Préalpes d’Azur Regional Natural Park is home to an exceptional biodiversity, as evidenced by the rich flora and fauna, the diversity of natural habitats and ecological niches. It hosts many rare and even endemic species:

With more than 2,000 plant species, the Prealps d’Azur home to one third of the flora in France, including 65 plant species protected at national or regional level;
40 plant species are endemic to the south-western Alps and endemic to Provence;
This territory is rich in caves and avens, refuge habitats for many fauna species of heritage interest (bats cavernicololes, many beetles some of which are endemic). The Prealps d’Azur are home to species that are generally declining over their entire range due to the loss of their habitat, but which are finding favorable conditions here: the Orsini’s viper, a rare species in France; the white-footed crawfish, a species in constant decline on the national territory; the Hydromante of Strinatii, small endemic amphibian; 23 species of bats on the 30 species present in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region …

It is also an environment to live and discover on the occasion of family ballads.
